Meet Kelly Henderson
I have worked in humanitarian assistance and international development since 2008, and have secured $30 million plus for international nonprofits in my career. I started out as a project manager, designing and leading multimillion-dollar, multi-stakeholder humanitarian assistance projects in public health and humanitarian mine action in the Central African Republic (CAR), the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom (UK), plus community health research in Ethiopia, Malawi, and Zambia. A key part of my field work was donor relations–writing progress reports, hosting donor visits, and developing six- and seven-figure funding proposals to secure new and ongoing funding.

My Approach to Grant Writing, Proposal Development & Program Design
I design and write grant proposals geared towards institutional donors, such as large family foundations, funding consortiums, and foreign aid departments of governments. I provide clients with a sound strategy based on donor intelligence, coupled with a great proposal that aligns with first choice funders.
I use a programs-first approach when writing grant proposals. I believe in localization, partnerships, community-centred program design, and evidence-based solutions grounded in data, all wrapped up in good donor intelligence.
